Both XIII Century titles offer up large-scale battles set in the Middle Ages and feature stunning graphics and thousands of units on the field of combat. As one of the famous military leaders of the 13th Century, you get to test your strength against neighboring nations. Among the playable factions are the English, the French, the Mongols, the Germans and Kievan Rus' (Russians).
Both titles depict realistic actions of Middle Ages fighting units and their behavior during battle. Attention to battlefield detail and smart AI make XIII Century a serious real-time tactical challenge. With game-play that's comparable to the Total War games, XIII Century will let you relive the great battles of the early Middle Ages.
XIII Century is no easy nut to crack. Combat is founded on the rock-paper-scissors formula. Rushing foes with no consideration as to their strengths and weaknesses will pretty much lead to defeat and even if you win, you won’t know why you did and the next battle will inevitably end in destruction . It is never a simple formula either. Many basics are evident. Archers on elevated ground have greater range. Horses don’t do too well against blokes with pikes and if you send Pikemen up against archers, there is only going to be one outcome.
