Following on from the Shadows of the Templers, the Smoking Mirror reunites us with George and Nico pursuing what starts out as a cut and dried drug dealing mystery but which ultimately leads them to a Mayan cult in the jungles of South America.
Acknowledged as one of the best point and click adventures, the Smoking Mirror pitches George and Nico into an escapade of intrigue and deceit mixed with the quirky humor that Mr Cecil likes to pepper his games with.
A steady steam of puzzles keep the challenges and progression nicely paced and this time out Nico gets her own adventures to complete to move the game forward. The themes of the Broken Sword series are nicely expanded (arcane powers of ancient civilisations / sinister crime syndicates, stolen treasure and terror) and there is no doubting the ability of Revolution to produce a strong narrative for their adventure games.
