They say that every journey starts with a single step! Well this is where the Runaway series of adventure games started. Developed by Pendulo Studios, it is clear the team spent some of their formative years playing some of LucasArts finest with perhaps a diversion around Revolution's Broken Sword series.

Either way, we're pretty glad they did. Runaway brings pretty much everything you could ever want from a classic point and click adventure. Brian our lantern jawed fraternity Jock is about to head off across America on a road trip to start college when he crashes into Gina. Gina is of course being pursued by a collection of Mafia types (why, we know not).

As with many adventure games the plot is a little "lite" on believability. "Gina's dead father being an undercover secret agent who entrusted her with an equally secret artifact (not soo secret the Mafia dudes know she has it and are in hot pursuit). With the Mafia one step behind, Brian decides to help Gina escape and solve the mystery of the artifact and why it is so desired by the bad guys.

As mentioned, this is classic point and click adventure fodder. If you have played such games before then you will feel instantly at home here. If not, fear not, the game is easy to pick up and understand and with good pacing, plenty of humor and great looking sets... what's not to like!
