Last updated on November 19, 2021

Destiny 2, which was and is still being developed by Bungieis an excellent online multiplayer first-person shooter game with a constantly evolving world that houses tremendous and unique weapons. Much of the game’s fun comes from finding powerful and rare weapons, similar to other looter-shooter games like Borderlands 2. One of the best and most rare pulse rifles in the game is the Premonition. What exactly is this Legendary weapon, and how do you obtain it?

The Premonition is a Legendary Pulse Rifle in Destiny 2 that sports the High Impact Frame perk, making this a robust and accurate weapon. Kill Clip, a rare weapon found in the Pit of Heresy on the Moon, is repeatedly damaged after reloading it after killing the enemy.

In the 2021 release, the Legendary Premonition pulse rifle is even more challenging to obtain. The original Destiny 2: Shadowkeep expansion is not the latest version, but as this weapon is part of the reissued moon gear, it is still obtainable in the newest expansion. The Premonition Pulse Rifle is a rare Legendary weapon not to be missed that sports excellent power.

Why Is Destiny 2‘s Premonition Pulse Rifle “Legendary”?

Destiny 2’s Premonition pulse rifle is a Legendary weapon worth hunting in this ever-evolving online multiplayer first-person shooter game. How To Acquire The Premonition Pulse Rifle in 2021?

To access the Premonition pulse rifle, you need the Destiny 2: Shadowkeep expansion. This expansion gives you access to Eris Morn’s quests and the dungeon, The Pit of Heresy, located on the Moon.

The Premonition pulse rifle could only be acquired through one of the first three boss encounters in The Pit of Heresy dungeon when writing this article. Below is a guide to gaining access to The Pit of Heresy dungeon and the Premonition pulse rifle while battling one of its three boss encounters.

Please be advised that below is not a full guide on how to complete The Pit of Heresy dungeon. This guide only contains how to get access to The Pit of Heresy dungeon and, from there, how to obtain the Premonition pulse rifle.

  1. First, go and speak to Eris Morn, the primary quest giver of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep expansion, on the Moon to gain access to the Deepening Wake questline, leading to The Pit Heresy dungeon.
  2. The Deepening Wake Questline requires you to complete two objectives.
    1. Firstly, you need to make your way to the Altars of Sorrow. While there, you need to open a tier 3 chest.
    2. This action will prompt you to eliminate 20 nightmare enemies.
  3. After completing this challenge laid out above, you will now have access to The Pit of Hersey dungeon.
  4. Make sure you have a high power level of about 940 and preferably in a three-person team. The Pit of Hersey is a challenging dungeon with challenging enemies and boss encounters, and therefore not recommended for a solo playthrough.
  5. Once you enter The Pit of Hersey, you will begin to drop into the depths of the pits at one cliff at a time. It goes without saying to use your jump ability with caution while dropping down these pits.
  6. You will arrive in the hive city of Necropolis. Look out for green markers, which marks where you and your team should travel to and your potential objectives. In view should be a giant red tower on a cliff that overlooks the markers. Travel to the large red tower first.
  7. There should be a big open room that houses three green symbols of hives on its walls. Each of these symbols represents the markers you and your team need to be on the lookout for on three smaller towers.
  8. Next, look for three smaller towers that match the three green hive symbols. You and your team should make your way to those three towers.
  9. Upon arrival, before you and your team can enter the rooms of each of the three towers with the green hive symbols, you and your team must defeat a Pitkeeper Knight guarding each tower. After defeating the Pitkeeper Knights, you and your team will be granted access to the rooms of the three towers.
    1. Inside each of the three towers, you and your team will encounter a boss. These bosses you and your team will only be able to defeat with a sword.
    2. You and your team can acquire these swords by defeating the Swordbearer Knights who roam the three towers.
    3. You and your team do not have to defeat these bosses in any specific order.
  10. In the first tower, you will find a Wizard boss, along with two of his smaller minions, who you can kill with the use of heavy sword attacks.  You and your team can defeat these two minions with attacks other than sword-based attacks. Once the two smaller minions are killed, go after the Wizard, which you can only kill with heavy sword attacks.
    1. Hopefully, upon defeat, it will drop the Premonition pulse rifle.
      1. If not, there is still a possibility that you can farm the Premonition pulse rifle from the other two boss encounters.
  11. In the second tower, you and your team will encounter a Knight. He will be surrounded by thrall. First, kill the thrall and afterward go for the Knight. The Knight is only vulnerable to light sword attacks.
    1. Most likely, upon defeat, the Knight should drop the Premonition pulse rifle.
      1. If not, there is still the third boss you can farm for the Premonition pulse rifle.
  12. In the third tower, you and your team will encounter a giant Shrieker along with two ogres. You and your team cannot kill the ogres, so continue blocking their and the Shrieker’s attacks. The only way to damage and defeat the Shrieker is by blocking with the sword, which would reflect damage back at him.
    1. Likely upon defeat, if not received from the two other boss encounters already, you may find the Premonition pulse rifle after defeating the Shrieker.
  13. You should very likely now have the Premonition pulse rifle based on the loot from one of these three boss fights.
  14. You can now continue finishing the dungeon with your shiny new Premonition pulse rifle.

At the time of writing this guide, defeating the Knight, Wizard, or Shrieker is the only way to obtain the Legendary Premonition pulse rifle.

What Does The Premonition Look Like In Destiny 2?

The default weapon appearance of the Premonition pulse rifle in Destiny 2 is quite interesting for a pulse rifle. It is made up of a color palette that is a nice mix of light grey, black, and orange. It sports a scope on the top of the weapon for you to aim through. The rifle is wrapped in what appears to be a dog tag attached to a blue string.

What Type of Ammo Does The Premonition Pulse Rifle Use?

Destiny 2’s Premonition pulse rifle is an energy weapon and makes use of primary ammo. The Premonition pulse rifle deals elemental damage in the form of Void damage.

The Void elemental damage quickly melts through your opponent’s shields on a particular condition. The enemy shield must be purple to reap the benefits. Purple matches the color of the Void symbol. This aspect, consisting of the Void symbol’s purple color matching your foe’s shield’s purple color, causes bonus damage to that foe. Although the Premonition pulse rifle fires slowly, it causes extravagant elemental Void damage, especially if you are stationary.
